We have put in a tiny garden for the past few years and honestly, it sucked. I think there were a few things that played a role in our unsuccessful gardens. 1) Not enough sunlight 2) crappy seeds and 3) bugs. This year we are going at this with a new approach and hoping for the best.
We are planning to put in raised bed garden. Has anyone ever done one before? In the past we had just tilled a plot of land for our veggies but this time we would like to step up our garden game. This is a few of the Pinterest ideas I found that I liked.
This is very simple yet very doable. Probably what I am leaning towards most.
I like the idea behind the U shaped boxes. It makes for much easier access when weeding the garden. What do you think?
When I plan out my garden I always make a list of what we want and then I plot it out by what plants are compatible and which are not.
Here is some of what we plan to plant:
- beans
- cucumbers
- tomatoes
- peppers
- lettuce
- squash
- radish
- turnip
- onion
I will post as soon as we start our seeds and keep you updated on how that is going. Let me know any tips you have for starting our raised bed gardens. I am so excited to start this out and I hope for a better return then we have had in the past. I am hoping to get into a schedule of posting more regularly but for now, check back next week for a new post :)
Thanks for stopping by,
Brianna
I love herbs chives, thyme, purple basil, lemon vebena and all that I can plant in containers. Gramma R has a raised beds and Auntie Frances does as well. good luck with the beds.
ReplyDeleteThanks Aunt Shirley. I plan to start a herb garden indoors as well :) There is no better way to cook then to use fresh herbs.
